Lamont Wind Ensemble & Spirituals Project Choir Premiere New Work at Two Concerts

The Lamont Wind Ensemble and the Spirituals Project Choir will perform the world premiere of a new work by project director M. Roger Holland. The premiere is The Dream and the Dreamer, a commissioned work inspired by the life of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The Dream and the Dreamer will be performed first on the Lamont Wind Ensemble concert at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 30. The wind ensemble will also be joined by esteemed Denver City Councilman, Albus Brooks, as guest narrator for a performance of New Morning for the World, Daybreak of Freedom combining the words of Dr. King with an epic music score.

The second performance of the premiere will reunite the wind ensemble and choir at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 27 as the Spirituals Project Choir presents Songs of Freedom, Songs of Hope, a performance of spirituals, freedom songs and gospel selections.

Both concerts are free admission and parking in the Newman Center garage is complimentary an hour prior to the concert.
